Chocolate Drink

Omanhene Chocolate Drink

2 Servings

1½ cups whole milk

3 Tbs. caramel base (see below)

2 ounces Omanhene 48% Dark Milk Chocolate, grated

Bring the milk to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium heat. Be careful not to scald! Pour the hot milk into a 1-quart glass bowl. Add the caramel base and the grated chocolate. Blend with a handheld blender until the chocolate has melted and the drink is smooth.

Pour into cups and serve.

Caramel Base
2 cups

3½ cups granulated sugar
1 cup water

Put the sugar in a saucepan. Place over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, until the sugar melts. Continue to cook, without stirring, until the sugar turns black, about 10 minutes. While the sugar is cooking, bring water to a boil in a small saucepan. When the sugar is black, remove the pan from the heat and put a sieve or splatter guard over it. Slowly pour the hot water into the sugar syrup. Let the syrup cool to room temperature. Transfer it to a container and refrigerate until needed.
